My $34,000 flight to Dubai!
It was December 21st 2016 and I had just flown from Vancouver to Seattle to connect to my flight from Seattle to Dubai. I had requested a business class seat from my client for the long 14 hour flight so that I felt refreshed and ready to work during my stay in the Emirate. After checking in, I made my way through security and to the business lounge to grab some food and a drink, I checked in at the concierge and got settled in to some photo editing at the bar. After a short while, the lady from the concierge desk came up over, smiled, and said 'Sorry to interrupt you Mr. Snape, we've bumped you to First, enjoy your flight'. I sat there speechless for a few minutes... I was about to experience flying First Class with one of the best airlines in the world.
I was flying on the Boeing 777-300, Emirates had 8 stunning First Class Suites on this plane. After a great boarding process, I was greeted with several choices of refreshments and shown around my private suite. I lost count of how many features there were, I spent a little while later playing with them all. Prior to boarding, I had taken a screenshot of todays flight price in First Class, it was a jaw dropping $34,581 USD one way (Thats around $45,000 Canadian!)
I frequently fly Business Class but this was my first time flying First Class and I already knew flying would never be the same for me again. The air hostess came around and made my bed while I went to change in to Emirates luxury pyjamas. I closed the doors to my suite and got settled. The bedding was incredible and I got an amazing seven hours sleep.
Let's talk food! Wow, the food was incredible! For dinner, I enjoyed braised duck to start, beef tenderloin for my main and a selection of cheeses for dessert. I placed my order for breakfast before I went to sleep and I woke to caramelized bananas over pancakes and fresh fruit.
Sadly the 14 hour flight literally flew by and before I knew it, I was landing in Dubai. Flying Emirates First was one of the most incredible experiences of my life. So would I pay $34,581 for that seat? If I had the money... Yes! I'm a huge fan of arriving somewhere well rested and relaxed and knowing the level of service offered, I would love to do it all over again.
Please note, I was not hired by Emirates to do this. It is not a sponsored post and everything here purely my own opinion.
